Here's the general information on Orca All Nighters. I hope you decide to join us!
Introducing: Orca All-Nighters
This is going to be the name of the challenge! As you can likely tell, it will involve staying awake longer than normal. This will take place on Fridays, and the goal is to stay awake as long as you can. For each hour you stay up after 12:00 AM in your time zone, you get a point. What's the point of getting a point? Let me explain.
There will be several Teams to choose from. For example, Team Snake or Team SeaWorld. Each team will have one or more conservation organizations that they represent. Team Snake will have the Orianne Society and USARK, for example; Team SeaWorld will cover the SeaWorld Busch Garden Conservation Fund. There will likely be some teams centered around ocean conservation, rainforest recovery, and more. You register for a team each Friday. This means that you don't have to be on one team forever, you can go with whatever team you want each week. Whichever team gets the most points that night wins, and then $5 is donated to one of that team's charities! There will also be special events where the total amount of points gained by the winning team is how much money will be donated.
How it's going to work is this: We will be hosting the challenge on this forum. We will post a new thread every Wednesday, and that is where team registry for that Friday will happen. Then, a new thread will be made for each Friday. For every hour the participants stay awake past midnight in their timezone, they must post in the thread. You can't post only at the end of your night. You have to post on the thread each hour that you are awake.

What's the point?
Orca All-Nighters is a great way to get some support for conservation. Few people donate money to conservation every week, but in the name of a fun challenge, their interest will be sparked and they will get involved. The next thing is that participants themselves DO NOT have to pay for anything! There are plenty of people, especially younger ones, who wish they could donate to conservation. But they don't have jobs to get the money for it, and their parents just don't care about conservation like they do. Orca All-Nighters is a way for everyone to have fun and get some money to a cause that they're passionate about. It's going to help get people involved, and show us all what good we can do when we work together.
But we need some help.
This is going to be a donation event, which means that we do need people who can provide the money for donations. I already have one person on our donation staff, but the more donation staff we have, the more affordable it is for everyone. How does donation staff work? Each week, myself or perhaps Bitty will discuss with the entire donation staff who will be in charge of donation that week. Whoever we all decide on will be the one to donate $5 to the appropriate conservation organization each Friday. The reason why we'll discuss this is to make sure that the person who is in the best position to give a little cash that week is the one to do so. And this way, no one person is being constantly pressured. The more people we have, the less donating turns that each individual has to take. This way, it's really affordable for the whole staff!
If you don't have a job, and thus feel uncomfortable being on full donation staff, there are still ways you can help out. If you find yourself with a lot of extra money after a holiday or a birthday, you can pitch in for a week or two and then stop donating when you feel appropriate. We're totally open to that.
If you're an adult who is interested in being part of the donation staff, please let me know. This is something that we really need to make this a success!
Participation
I told you how to participate in the challenge each week already, but there are some extra details you need to know. To participate, you must make an account on the forum. And again, participants don't have to pay a dime. The staff is taking care of that. All you have to do is stay up and have fun! There will be some weeks where we have conservation-related challenges for you to help keep yourself awake (like re-watching your favorite nature documentary, or drawing your favorite Endangered species). If you complete these tasks, you'll win bonus points for you team, and maybe even some extra money for your charity. More details about things like this will be released later, and we're always open to suggestions. We will also likely have some sort of chat, either on the forum itself or somewhere else, where we can all talk to each other through the night.
